The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

A freaking Japanese Virtual Console release? Th-this can't be it! It just can't. I just do not believe it. Itoi said republication... made available... sure, a Virtual Console release fits that description but... this is not what I had in mind! Good for Japan that they get Mother 2 on Virtual Console. In fact, it's hard to believe that they didn't have it yet... considering it being in Super Smash Bros. Brawl's Masterpieces. But, to be honest, I don't really care about it at all. Even if the Virtual Console release came to America I'd be disappointed! I already have a legit EarthBound cart, so I don't need it on Virtual Console, no offense to you less fortunate people who do not have a cart. I was hoping it would be a remake of all 3 games... or at least of Mother 1. Of course that didn't happen. Uugh. We have such good luck, don't we? And we get our hopes up at every little thing. We EarthBound fans are such gullible creatures. Why haven't we given up yet? How hard is it to make a remake? Mother 1 aged horribly. Mother 2 is a cult hit, but it is falling even further into obscurity from non-fans. And Mother 3... uugh. Just no... I have nothing else to say.

In other news... 3 days ago was my 5th YouTube anniversary. Damn has YouTube gotten bad since then.

I also refuse to believe this. If I don't get my hands on any remakes or ports of these games, I will refuse to give Nintendo any of my money (unless I have to get stuff on VC for 3DS if they get good games, or some new Legend of Zelda game), and only buy their games used.

I remember seeing somewhere that one of his japanese fans tweeted him that s/he wanted to play Mother 2, but couldn't find a copy, I bet this was just a response to that. I am looking forward to the Mother 4 fangame though, it looks awesomazing.

I stopped caring a long time ago. Yeah I don't have the cartridge, but I still have the emulator and the fanmade translation of M3 (you know it's bad when something fanmade is better then the original product.)
